Outro

  • Jodie has tasked us to make an outro and intro for the dance show. I was tasked in making the outro. The clients want a montage of clips from different movies of dance sequences. It must be in duration of the song and a format that can be played in a projector.

  • I must create a montage that is workable for a projector and must be a decent enough length like 3 to 4 minutes. I must also create a list of all the clips I have used in the video with details of each movie and rating.

Process

  • The process of what I have done is to make a starter list of both outro and intro. We made a physical paper list. This list is ment to be a starter to not have the same movies repeated and the rest we must do our own. To get the clips in highest quality possible we used a mp4 downloader to ensure no quality lost. However, the site has its problems as it has blocked some videos, and we must use obs to work around the limations.

  • I started of making downloading the clips form the starter list and cut them into 10 second intervals.

First Version

  • The first version of this video was made with small pool of clips and cut directly to be ten seconds each. However this was pointed out to be respective and not engaging the viewer so I have asked for a recommended song. The client sent us two songs, one for each of us, and I chose the song called glitterball. With a song it is more easier to cut in different beats.

  •

  • I have soon realized that downloading different clips and having to cut them into the song is going to take way longer, so I have done a different method. I took an already made YouTube montage of different dances and downloaded that instead and have a tool to automatically cut the video into parts. This has created a faster method as I done cut clips and the only thing, I need to do is placed them into a order that’s good.

Feedback Version 1/11/23

  • I gotten my feedback from the client while they were satisfied with the quality of the clips and their placements and duration, they request some of the clips to be deem unsuitable to the audience they want to show. Examples, like Borat, Magic Mike or anything that looks unsuitable for an audience. So, I went back and took out any parts that are from those movies and replace them with other parts of the pre-made video.

Feedback Version 6/11/23

  • I gotten my feedback from the client while they were satisfied with the quality of the clips and their placements and duration, they request some of the clips to be deem unsuitable to the audience they want to show. Examples, like Borat, Magic Mike or anything that looks unsuitable for an audience. So, I went back and took out any parts that are from those movies and replace them with other parts of the pre-made video.

Feedback Version 13/11/23

  • I further created an even more family friendly version. The client manage to give feedback in person and point out any clips that I have missed, I also took this opportunity to update clips that have low quality even though this is for a projector screen, I hope that having a higher resolution would be more of a clearer image to the audience.

  • I have also removed the watermarks what are present in the video with a black border or have replace the clip.

Feedback Version 14/11/23

  • I have combined the two videos of my partners and I's intro and outro and when getting feedback, I replaced some clips and making sure the flow of the music isn't broken. The client asked for a shorter gap between videos, and I quickly delivered.

  • I have decided to make a list for the client to make sure its 100% transparency in terms of what clips I am using and what movie it came from. The list provides a name, time stamp in the video, the link I used, the rating and official rating website and a clip I have used to create the video in the first place with additional time stamp.

Overview Reflection

  • Making a montage seems easy but when making it, it is a lot more work than I have expected. Having the idea of a premade video and using bit of that is a good idea but in execution I could have been a little careful on what I download and what clips I used. If I potently looked at the video, I could grasp what clips would be fine to use and what clips that I can't use. Maybe I could've used a more family friendly video instead consisting in animated shows/movies like what my partner did.

  • I felt there's a lot of communication by me and the client but a little more communication with my partner could've been more as we ended up with some of the same clips and I felt the quality in terms of the quality for the intro and outro isn't consistence because the intro had watermarks while I have edited out watermarks or replace the clip. I feel like I should've made my complaints clearer as it was mostly brushed off as my partner said it didn’t really matter which was true in some case, but I honestly would just remove them if the I had chance to. I do think I have created a decent montage with the all the changes and improvement
