25th September & 9th October 2023
On 25th September and 9th October 2023, I was with some of my production club called Lunch Club Productions, filming at Queens Drive campus to film dance students. This is one of our clients for whom we need to make four videos. Each video is different. One must be an intro and outro montage, global styles, interviews and rehearsals footage. However, I am not a project manager for these videos.
We are filming every two weeks from 9am – 1pm. We alternate each time, so four different people are involved each time.
9th October 2023 (Montage)
On the ninth of October, 2023, I was put in charge of the montage intro for Jodi, who is doing a dance show for New College Swindon on January 17th, 2024.
She sent two songs to use, the first being Canned Heart by Jamiroquai. The second song is Glitterball by Ella Henderson. I’m using Canned Heart for the intro, while Jace uses Glitterball for the outro.
Before I started the editing phase, I created a list of films that have dancing alongside movies suggested by the dancers themselves. For example, Step Up, 42nd Street and Centre Stage.
I have made the first version of the montage and sent it to Jodi to get feedback in case I need to change anything.
My teacher gave me a small piece of feedback alongside Jodie’s, which was to mix up the duration of clips to make the montage more interesting so that you don’t know when the following clip is coming.
I received Jodie’s feedback on 31st October 2023. she said that the edits were excellent but to ensure dancing videos are appropriate for young kids, like not adding dance sequences from Magic Mike.
On 13th November 2023, Jodie came in to view our edits and while watching my intro, she pointed out that there are a couple of glitches within the video that’s the video before the Mamma Mia! Video. I have now sorted out the glitch and will be sending it to Jace to put together but with a blank space between them.

15th & 16th October 2023
On Sunday 15th and 16th, I had the opportunity to work on a real production for a company called Hell Bound Media. Their short film is called Eating Disorders.
My roles for the two days were runner and an extra for the night club scene.
For my runner job, I had to ask the barman for some empty glasses, used beer and cider bottles with some cocktail umbrellas and straws. I helped the producer Matt create the scene that would look like its connected to the dance scene. I made some drinks but messed up on one of the drink orders. I also had to deliver some fake blood to the kitchen set as it was a scene for murder. Before the scene was shot, five other people and myself had to make the kitchen look like it was in the middle of being cleaned.
I also had the duty of taking some BTS photos/ videos.
For the night club scene, I was told by the cameraman that the stand for the flashing light had to been hidden, so that you couldn’t see it on camera. We took 2 takes for that scene.

21st October 2023
(9am-6pm)
On Saturday 21st October 2023 we were filming another client, which was St Mark’s Church Choir, singing 3 hymns.
I was not the project manager for this, I was just there to help. I was mostly helping Tom with the audio since the choir director wanted to hear the audio after each time they sang. While we were recording the audio, I had to look after Tom’s laptop and SD card reader.
Sam also asked me to take BTS photos while he was away from the set, and he wanted updates on our progress.

10th November 2023
On Monday, 6th November, Jace and I created an equipment list for Friday 10th November with help from Sam. I attended Queen’s Drive campus at 1pm. We set up all the equipment in their chosen places to capture all the graduation from different angles since it would be live-streamed through my teams into the family room.
We had help from Level 3’s to set up everything and to help make all the wires safe since they had to connect to the computer monitors. Camera 4, we used an HDMI converter through an ethernet cable.
We set up a shotgun microphone that helped amplify the sound coming from the lectern so it could be better heard through teams.
We also did a quick sound check. This happened because we logged onto a laptop at the top of the stairs near the control room to see if we could hear the shotgun microphone through teams. We also checked equipment to see if everything was working as it should. We did have a problem with one of the ethernet cables, which we had to replace with a new one. After that, everything was working smoothly.
Our teacher wanted to take the cameras and tripods home, so they were in safe hands and ensure all batteries were charged and ready for Saturday. So, we marked out where the tripods were, packed them up and took them to our teacher’s car.
We were allowed to go once the set up in the theatre was complete. However, I stayed behind for an hour and a half until my bus came. So, I helped Fay and Nicki set up their side of things to do with the graduation: setting up the family room seating.

11th November 2023
On 11th November 2023 at Queens Drive in the Theatre, the graduation for the former HND and BA students is being streamed in the family room on site.
We arrived on-site at 9am to set up all our cameras and tripods on Friday, where we had marked them out with white tap. Once the cameras were on the tripods, we plugged in all the wires and ensured they worked on the computer monitors.
I ensured the wires were taped down properly from cameras 3 and 4 to the gallery.
I put a laptop into the family room so it could be live-streamed through my teams and ensured the sound was working and that I could see through the cameras. We had interference from something, and Alex and Sam were trying to see if it was the microphone on the lectern, but we found out that it was coming from camera two, which was buzzing through, and we muted that camera through the ATEM, and the buzzing stopped.
I asked Tom to put some yellow and black tape on the tripod four and the floor so that people could see the leg and not trip over it or the tripod falling over when knocked. I also asked Tom if he could sort out the laptop in the family room to be projected onto the big TV.
Jace and I decided to plug all the cameras in instead of using battery power since not all batteries will last long, and we didn’t know how long each graduation (3) would be, which turned out to be at least thirty minutes.
I ensured the bags from the equipment were out of sight but placed neatly. I did a quick check on the cameras to make sure everything was safe.
Before it started, Jace and I agreed on alternating who has control of the cameras when streaming. We also decided to record all three graduations onto an SD card for evidence and the College if they want it as a memory.
We did the minute silence for remembrance day before the first graduation started.
Once all the graduations were finished, we packed everything up and put the tape into the bin behind the black curtains. We put some of the equipment in Sam’s and Tom’s cars and I took home the radios since they came separately.
We were gifted some flowers that were part of the display.
